Living With Adversity

"All misfortune is but a stepping stone to fortune"
Henry David Thoreau

I work closely with The Brain Tumour Charity (formerly the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust)  – the largest brain tumour charity in the UK – helping to raise awareness about brain tumours. This is because brain tumours are among the most difficult of the cancers to diagnose.

The website is about sharing life experiences in order to show other people how to overcome their own problems. In other words, it is helping others to get over their personal limitations; whether they are emotional, physical or psychological. Indeed, it is teaching people how to enjoy living through transformational healing.

I know that I have much internal drive and I very much want to inspire other people to overcome their own physical boundaries; to enjoy every day and stop asking “Why me?”. At the same time my aim is to help them to feel positive, strong and important about themselves. I want people to have the courage to develop the capacity to accept the misfortunes that have befallen them.

The key message is that everybody has a purpose in life and it is in everyone’s power to make the most of their life.

I want people to know that they are not alone; someone else is experiencing their pain, someone else is feeling scared, puzzled and frustrated, but I also want them to know and believe that there is a way forward. There is a light at the end of every tunnel!

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly”  ~ The Buddha
